Abel Juarez

Abel Juarez is a video production specialist for Creative & Digital Services at the University of Illinois Chicago. Throughout the past decade, Abel has created distinctive video content from ideation to post-production. Growing up in Chicago, Abel always had a camera in his hands, and from the moment he picked up the family’s video camcorder, he was tasked with recording sports events, family dinners, and vacations. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from St. Xavier University, he worked there as a campus multimedia specialist before being hired by the University of Illinois Chicago. With expertise in camera operation and post-production work, Abel loves helping people magically re-experience memorable events, like Battle of the Bands at Spark, UIC’s annual music festival. In addition to his role at UIC, Abel does freelance work through Abel Juarez Media, using his craft to spotlight the lives of impactful individuals, organizations, and events, such as the 2023 Chicago Debates. Abel was a featured speaker at the UPAA (University Photographers’ Association of America) 2024 Utah Symposium. He is passionate about good food and enjoys horror movies, video games, and hanging out with friends around the firepit.
