Ashley Aborisade is a program specialist at Prairie View A&M University’s Food Security Research Center. With a background in communications and finance, she is a committed advocate for food security and strong, resilient families. Ashley earned a B.A. degree in Mass Communication from Oklahoma City University and is currently pursuing further education in financial planning. Ashley is a brave and tenacious champion for the support of individuals and families. She co-founded Wise and Thriving Financial Resources and was the co-founder, host, and producer of HigherMark, a multi-faceted media company. During her tenure at HigherMark, Ashley produced content for an audience of 5K across multiple social media platforms and led the creative team at the Wholly Happy podcast for two seasons. She provided creative direction for two local Houston stations (NDTV and AfrocentrikTV) and produced a multimedia musical stage play for a Houston-based church. She has also been a talk show and podcast host. Ashley is also a certified Texas Master Gardener. Born in Liberia, Ashley emigrated to the U.S. and grew up in Oklahoma. At a young age, Ashley watched her grandfather turn his backyard into a garden, and she saw firsthand the revolutionizing effects of gardening. Now, as a Master Gardener volunteer, Ashley enjoys empowering others with the nourishing mental, physical, and spiritual benefits of gardening. Passionate about her faith, Ashley is involved at her church through the marriage ministry, small groups, and classes. In her spare time, she enjoys date nights with her husband and spending time with her family.
