Kenny James is a multi-instrument musician and producer from Chicago, IL, currently residing in the suburbs of Los Angeles, CA. His smooth delivery and rich sound give his music a familiar blend of up tempo beat and groovy vibe. Growing up, his father and mother were heavily involved in music. His father, Bob James, is one of Chicago’s foremost slide-bone players and accomplished acapella gospel singers. Carolyn James, Kenny’s mother, also a singer and cellist. Thomas “Fats” Waller, the accomplished jazz pianist, composer and singer is said to be a distant cousin. While bass is Kenny’s preferred instrument, he also excels at drums and keys. Aside from playing bass, Kenny is a producer under the moniker, Invisiblemann, producing music from Pop, Rock, Electronic, Jazz and R&B. He has produced 15 albums to-date of his own music, playing majority of the instruments and composing all the songs. Kenny joined Plugged Music Group as a producer in 1996, and their first big break came that same year when H-Gun Productions, famous for Public Enemy and Anthrax’s video, “Bring the Noise,” approached Kenny and his partner, Jim Colao, to do the music for the MTV Movie Awards. This led to commercial gigs as diverse as Comedy Central, Levi’s, and Cartoon Network. They also attracted a wide range of artists from all over the world. Additionally, Kenny has provided music for documentary films such as the controversial “In a Diamond’s Shadow,” which can be seen on the Plugged Music site.
